An American Impact Review study found that consumers still have a preference towards “human generated” content when they are aware of the source. What does that mean for your copy if they can smell the use of AI? It means your product is dead in the water.

While studies have shown that AI performs better than most human compositions, because of its ability to use emotional manipulation, as soon as the reader knows it’s AI, distrust sets in. This is why either you hire a human to write your content, or you still hire a human to edit generative copy should you choose to go that route. That’s where I come in. I’m human.

Feature Article (Spec)

THE OAKS PARK SKATING RINK

While this spec article was written for a class at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications, it remains in my collection of samples because it’s my favorite story to tell–a story about an amusement park older than Disneyland that has a floating skating rink.

Product Copy (spec)

Spec copy the JUKI HZL-DX5. This copy is my attempt to tone down the obvious signs of a sales pitch such as phrases like “achieve perfection,” and eliminate the sense of desperate friendship (mostly done through too many exclamations in this copy), while not trying to alienate the novice sewist. I also encouraged potential buyers to go into a shop and test drive the machine. I feel that not pushing the quick sale brings confidence and trust to a big investment like a higher-end sewing machine.
